On Saturday, March 18, the Running Club competed a 5K Run on Montrose Beach in which they demonstrated grit, stamina and endurance in order to finhish the 5K CARA GRIT race.

All our athletes finished the race in less than an hour.

I want to thank parents and staff members who were in attendance supporting our students.

Alicia Gonzalez invited Diego Estrada to our school to speak on health and athleticism.

Students and teachers had the opportunity to listen to a professional athlete who runs marathons and represented Mexico in the Olympic Games.  After speaking with students, Diego participated in technical drills and running warm-ups with our students.

Diego was able to share some  exercises with students that they can use prior to competing.

The next race is scheduled for Thursday, May 18 at 7:00 pm.  We will be there to support our students.

At this moment the Running Club is expanding and we have all together 35 students.  Next year we will have a program for students in 3rd, 4th and 5th grade as well.

Our school has three Running Club trainers who help our children develop the skills needed to compete in running competitions.

My sincere gratitude to our coaches Ms. Michelle Hernandez, Ms. Elizabeth Hedden, and Ms. Noelia Fraga.

I want to thank Chicago Run through their Executive Director, Ms. Alicia Gonzalez, a fan of our school for many years, for supporting our efforts in creating healthy habits in our school through the Running Club.
